Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadow

I absolutely love this line of eye shadow.  The eye shadow above is Electric Blue and it is gorgeous.  This eye shadow is really pigmented so the color is very bright and this stuff lasts.  I usually don't use any type of primer for my eye shadow (even though I probably should) and it lasts all day and then some.

This eyeshadow isn't a powder, it's more creamy.  I use my ring finger and dab it over my eye lid.  I apply it up to the crease but never above the crease.  You don't have to use much so a little will go a long way and the more you apply the darker it gets.  I like the fact that you can build up the color.

Another great thing about this eye shadow is it makes an awesome eyeliner.  If I want just a hint of blue I grab my eyeliner brush and line my upper and lower lashes.

Another great color in this line is Gold Rush.

When you apply Gold Rush it looks like gold, it's not just a yellow color.  It has a lot of shimmer to it.  I call it my goddess eye shadow.  You can also build up the color with this one too.  The more you use the more gold and shimmery it gets.

I also tried Emerald BUT it wasn't in the Metal line so it didn't have the impact I was going for.  It is still very pretty but it's a bit softer in color.  I wish they would have done a deep green color in the Metal line of Color Tattoo.  You can build up the color on this one but you don't get the same pop of color like you do with the Metal line.  I thought about applying the Emerald and then putting a light amount of Gold Rush on top....but I'm not sure how that will turn out.  If I try it I'll post some pictures.

Be warned, it was named Color Tattoo for a reason.  This stuff lasts and is hard to remove if you make a mistake.  So with that being said if you make a mistake when you are applying it try to remove the shadow ASAP.  The longer you let it sit the harder it is to get off.

All in all I love the eye shadows.  The glass pods they come in are small but should last a long time.  They are not very expensive I picked up mine at Walgreens for around $7 each.  You can find these eye shadows at most drugstores and Walmart.  I think you can also find them at my new favorite store Target.

Yes....I have finally discovered Target.

To Prime or Not To Prime.....That Is The Question

I got the Bare Minerals makeup kit a few years ago and it came with foundation, primer, mineral veil, 2 powder brushes, and 1 concealer brush.  I used everything but the primer.  I didn't even try it.  I have sensitive skin and I was afraid it would cause my skin to break out and I didn't think it would make that much of a difference anyway.  I was wrong.

I have oily skin so by the end of my day my makeup had pretty much melted off my face.  No matter how many times I blotted with a tissue or one of those oil absorbing sheets, my face would be shiney.  There were many days where I just wouldn't wear makeup at all.  If my makeup was just going to be gone by 2 o'clock what was the point in putting it on in the first place?

But I wanted to wear makeup....I wanted to feel and look pretty.

I dug my Prime Time foundation primer out of my makeup bag and used it under my Bare Minerals foundation one day.  It certainly made a difference.  My makeup stayed on my face and didn't just melt away.  My face was less shiney and it didn't cause my skin to break out!  I should have been using this stuff since day 1.

You only need about a pea size amount of primer to cover your face.  When it comes out of the bottle it looks like clear oil.  I thought it would make my face feel greasy but it doesn't at all.  It glides on smoothly and leaves no residue.

I always suggest "try before you buy" so if you are looking for a new foundation primer, or you want to try a primer for the first time (like me) give this one a try.  Sephora will give out samples of products so ask if they can give you a sample.  They also have a great return policy so hang on to your receipt just in case you buy it and it's not what you are looking for.

Have a great and safe holiday weekend!

Benefit Watt's Up Review

I received this mini highlighter in a birthday gift from Sephora in July.  I've never used a highlighter before so I was a little unsure how to apply it and if I even wanted to use it since I have oily skin.  I did some research and decided to give it a try.  It was free so what did I have to lose?

When I first apply it I love how it has a little shimmer to it but it is not like glitter.  It catches the light nicely with a slight glow.  I apply it to my brow bone right under my eye brows, along the top part of my cheeks (a little higher than I would apply blush), and on my temple area.

I love how the shimmer is subtle so you don't see it until the light catches it.  I have a problem with oily skin so therefore it isn't as noticeable by the end of the day but other than that I love it.  It goes on smooth and it doesn't irritate my skin.  I have sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts so I'm very glad it didn't cause me to break out.

Don't have a highlighter?  You can use a light shimery eye shadow instead.  Make sure you blend it in well so you don't have streaks!

Acne

Let's talk about acne.  I still feel like there is a stigma around acne.  I want to erase that.  Acne is a skin condition, and it can take years to find the right combination of products to make a difference.

I have suffered from acne since the age of 12.  I thought when I left puberty behind that I would leave my acne behind as well.  Wrong.  I have been to the dermatologist and tried pretty much every product under the sun.  Most products just made my skin red, dry, and tender.  I almost gave up.

Then I gave Proactiv a try.  I purchased it from the kiosk in the mall.  I didn't expect a miracle but it did help my skin better than anything else I tried.  I did not get the results they showed on TV, but it did help to clear up my skin a lot.  I have been using Proactiv for about 5 years now and reached what they call a plateau.  I'm told it's a point that everyone reaches where the product doesn't really work any more or any less and your results just plateau.  I needed to jump start my skin.

Enter the Proactiv brush.

I have been using the Proactiv brush for a month now and I LOVE my results.  From the first use my skin felt softer and it felt like my skin was actually absorbing the products I was using.  I noticed it had started to even out my skin tone so it wasn't so red.  After using it for 1 month I have far fewer blemishes on my skin.  My fiancĂ© even commented on how great my skin was looking!  Don't get me wrong I still have the occasional blemish.  I suffer from hormonal acne so the occasional blemish is a given, but I was floored with my results.  I didn't have to buy any new cleanser products.  I decided to stick with my Proactiv for now.  I picked up the Proactiv brush at the same kiosk in the mall for around $19.00.

If you or someone you know is struggling with acne, I suggest you give it a try.

-I recently purchased the Clarisonic Mia 2 but I haven't used it long enough to give an honest review of it so I'm going to hold off for a few more weeks before I give my opinion-

New

This is my first official blog post and hopefully not my last.  Haha

On this blog you will find randomness quite frankly.  I hope to share pictures of nail art I have done and other crafty projects I have created.  I also want to review products I use and test new ones.  I am hoping that this blog will help me to be even more creative and motivate me to branch out in to new areas.

-short and sweet-

more to come....
